JOHN MADISON JONES, PVT

John“Johnny” Madison Jones was the son of Francis Marion Jones and Mary Elizabeth “Ellen” Jane Pinkston Jones. He was born 1847 in Bibb County, Alabama. He was the 5th child of nine children. His siblings were Joseph Milton, Laura Ann, James M, Francis Jr., Alpha, Thomas, Theodocia, and George.

Johnny married Elizabeth“Eliza” Tennessee Abbott, November 8, 1881, Woodville, Tyler County, Texas. They had nine children, Virgil, Mary, Ellen, Jesse, William, Carl, Stella, Estelle, and Thomas. After the war, Johnny worked at the saw mill at Honey Island, Texas, as a night watchman on the Planer Crew. (1910 Census)

Johnny died on August 15, 1916 in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas and is buried in an unmarked grave at the Jones Cemetery, Colmesneil, Texas.
