Transgender Entertainer and Author. Known professionally as The Lady Chablis, she rose to fame in John Berendt's 1994 book, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," and the subsequent Clint Eastwood-directed 1997 movie of the same title in which she appeared as herself. With the success of the film, Chablis shot to fame, appearing on various television and talk shows, including "Good Morning America," "Oprah," and "Bizarre Foods America." She was the headlining entertainer for Savannah Pride's inaugural celebration and hosted their Miss Gay Pride Pageant. She would go on to perform, donate, and contribute to many LGBT charities throughout her career. In 1996, she released her autobiography "Hiding My Candy," which included several of her favorite recipes at the back of her book.
