MOTHER DIES FEW HOURS AFTER BABY
Friends heard with deep regret today of the death of Mrs. N.P. Arbogast of 404 Jefferson Street at six o'clock Sunday evening at the St. Mary's Hospital. A daughter was born to her at five o'clock Saturday afternoon, but the baby lived but nine hours. Complications following child birth caused the death.
Two neighbor women, Mrs. Arbogast and Mrs. A.D. Coulling, who was staying with Mrs. Arbogast's mother, Mrs. Emma Wyman, sat together many afternoons this spring, making little baby garments and planned a trip which they were to take to Manitost, Colorado, the latter part of August. But the happy plans failed to materialize. Mrs. Coulling died in childbirth two months ago and Mrs. Arbogast passed away with the same trouble Saturday evening. Both their babies died. Mrs. Arbogast's mother, Mrs. Wyman, is prostrated with grief today.
Iva Wyman was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Wyman, well known settlers of Persifer Township. She was born February 9th, 1875 on a farm four miles east of Knoxville. She grew to womanhood there and was married in November, 1906 to N.P. Arbogast. The couple lived on the home farm two years and then moved to Galesburg.
When nearing the great shadowland yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Arbogast was told by her sister, Mrs. Mart O'Connor that the physician had said she could not recover. It was her request that Rev. J.A. Plaelan should be called. He came into the sickroom where he administered the sacrament for the dying.
The deceased belonged to several social clubs, was charitable to those in need and because of her beautiful character had endeared herself to many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at Corpus Christi Church.
