Abe Glidewell, 86, died at 11 a m Thursday in Cherokee after a lingering illness.

His home was at 610 Gillease. He had lived here since 1936. Prior to that he farmed in Cherokee County. He was born in Pennsylvania on Aug 28, 1881 and was married to Ethel Eubank on Nov. 26, 1912 at Holstein.

He was a member of First Church of Christ.

Survivors include: The wife Ethel; one son, Boyd Glidewell, Cherokee; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin Mann, Aurelia; Mrs. Rex Brown, Quimby; three brothers, Walter Sacramento, Calif.; Charles, Pipestone, Minn.; Roy, Aurelia; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Abe Glidewell was married twice, both to women named Ethel. He married Ethel Wright in 1906. She died in Feb. 1912 and before the year ended he remarried. That woman was Ethel Eubank, daughter of J.W and Lucretia Eubank. I don't know why the obituary lists Pennsylvania as his place of birth, since multiple censuses and his marriage records list Iowa, Marshall County and even Marshalltown as his birthplace. His father, Alfred, was born in Pennsylvania, as were the parents of his mother Sarah and step-mother Susie.
