Charles S. Hix, 90, died Saturday, March 24, at 10:55 a.m. at his home in Martinsburg after a brief illness.

The son of Alfred B. and Minnie Durfey Hix, he was born north of Hedrick June 18, 1871. He was married September 22, 1897 to Lily Myrtle Jones, who died August 19, 1911. On March 14, 1927 he was married to Blanche Davis, who survives. He was postmaster in
Martinsburg for 20 years and was manager of the Home Lumber Company for a number of years. He was a Methodist.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Erma Gardner of Ollie and Mrs. Carl Anderson of Martinsburg; two sons, Elwyn C. Hix of Oskaloosa and Paul R. Hix of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Sonner of St. Joseph, Missouri; six grandchildren and two great
grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 26, at the Methodist church in Martinsburg with the Rev. John A. Robinson and the Rev. Harold P. Martin officiating. Burial was made in the Cedar Township cemetery near Fremont.
