Mount Carmel Sister Dies at Mother House
Sister Augusta Marie, formerly Miss Odile Coussan of Carencro, a member of the Congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, died this morning at the mother house, 420 Robert E. Lee, after a prolonged illness.
Sister Marie had joined the order in 1944 and taught at Mount Carmel academy here ever since except for one year of teaching at Mount Carmel academy in Lafayette. Before joining the order she taught school in Lafayette.
Sister Marie had been moderator for the Sodality of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and for the Third Order of Carmel Secular.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Coussan of Carencro and several brothers and sisters.
A requiem mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the mother house chapel. The Rev. Eugene Cuddy, O.P. will officiate.
