IRON RIVER-Cleo M. Contardi, 63, of 53 5th Ave., died Oct. 17 at Iron County General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 15, 1929 in Crystal Falls, the daughter of the late Alvin [Albin] and Frances Johnson and was a lifelong resident. She attended the Bates and Iron River schools and graduated from Iron River High School in 1947. On June 24, 1950 she married Ted Contardi at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. She was employed by Michigan Bell from 1947 until 1951. She then worked at the Roma Restaurant in Iron River from 1964 until her retirement in 1977. She also worked at the Sweet Corner Grocery in Iron River. She was preceded in death by a brother William. She was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband; a son William of Iron River; a daughter Linda Greenlund of Caspian; a brother James Johnson of Camp Lake, Stambaugh Township; two granddaughters, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Oct. 19 at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River.
The family suggests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements were handled by Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
