Robert Lenox Matiland had a little brother named Robert Lenox Maitland who died as an infant, eight years before his birth. His parents decided to reuse the name. Robert's middle name was his grandmother's maiden name and his father's middle name.

Robert Lenox Maitland, sixty-six, a wealthy retired tobacco exporter of this city, died on Thursday night at his home, 90 Hamilton Avenue, Rochelle Heights, New Rochelle.

Mr. Maitland was a descendant of the Maitland family of Scotland. He was born in West Fourteenth Street, this city, and was a great nephew of James Lenox, founder of the Lenox Library.

Mr. Maitland was one of the oldest members of the old 7th Regiment and a member of the veterans Association. He is survived by his wife, daughter of the Rev. William M Taylor, for twenty-three years pastor of the Broadway Tabernacle.
