Married Paul Edward Spencer, June 2, 1962 in Palestine, West Virginia. Paul is the son of Hoyt Ferris Spencer and Eva Mary Bailey Spencer.

Hazel L. Spencer ,73, of Elizabeth, W.Va., was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Hazel was born Jan. 28, 1943, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Virgil and Irene Lynch.

She was a 1961 graduate of Wirt County High School. She was employed by Kellwood in Spencer, W.Va., and in later years retired from Mustang Survival of Elizabeth, W.Va. She enjoyed babysitting, was a seamstress, she completed suduko puzzles and played solitaire. Her favorite job was Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She attended New Home Church in Palestine and the Church of the Nazarene in Elizabeth.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Paul E. Spencer; three daughters, Peggy Spencer (Mark), Brenda Villers (Mike) and Paula Burton (Jeff); five grandchildren, Rachel Gifford (Jonathan), Leanna Corbitt (Chase), Sarah Burton (Don), Dylan Pickrell (Molly) and Lucas Hyatt; five great grandchildren, Rielee, Maddox, Tucker, Harper and Asher; five step grandchildren, Joe Villers (Sarah), Jake Villers (Krissi) , Taylor Watson, Blake Sowerby and Emily Sowerby; six sisters, Roxie Holbert (Rodney), Mary Parsons (Carl), Sylvia Parchman (Bill), Janet Ellyson (Roger), Nancy Karantonis (John); three brothers, Marvin Lynch (Mary Lou) Martin, Gay Lynch and James Lynch (Mary); and a lifelong friend, Charlotte Kline.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her sister, Patty Bennett.

A special thanks to her caregiver Tracy Welch and Missy Henrie, her hospice nurse.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth, W.Va., with the Rev. Jim Bruce, the Rev. Lee Williams and the Rev. Wayde Hunt officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth, W.Va.
