Crandall - died at his residence in Sherman Twp. Sunday morning Feb 10 1884.
Tyrannus H. Crandall aged 58 years 5 months. Mr. Crandall was born in Otsego County New York, July 17, 1825 in which his childhood and youth were passed. In 1851 he married and removed to McKean Co. Penn. - In the fall of 1856 he
resolved to try his fortunes in the west and first landed in Wisconsin, whither his parents had preceded him. He did not remain long there, however, but crossed the Mississippi and made a temporary stop in Clayton Co., IA. He afterward moved to Jones Co, IA., where he purchased a farm intending to settle permanently, but after 12 years of hard work improving his home, he became anxious to see more of the undeveloped west and accordingly "set sail" in the spring of "70" with his family, intending to pitch his tent in one of the Northwest counties of Iowa, but arriving at Twin Lakes, changed his mind and located on the place where he resided up to the time of the accident which caused his death. - He has always been a hard working man, following different pursuits in life, but latterly has turned his attention to farming in which he has been imminently successful.
Several years ago he united with the M. E. Church and has been a constant and faithful member. -- He was a man of unquestioned character. No one knew him but to respect and esteem him and his loss will be deeply felt in the community. He leaves a widow and 5 children, all but one of whom are grown to man and womanhood and who have listened to a fathers admonition and council for the last time. His funeral occurred at the Bolton Schoolhouse, Tuesday Feb 12 -
Rev. Drake delivering the discourse. He was interred in the Twp. Cemetery, where three of his children lie.
