Mr. Gaetano was born in Elizabeth to Gaetano and Mary (Zadari) Gaetano. He lived in Elizabeth, prior to moving to Colonia 45 years ago.
He was a faithful parishioner of St. John Vianney. He was very involved in the Colonia Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation. His passions were family, friends, ballroom dancing and gardening.
Mr. Gaetano was a Forklift Operator for Twin County of Edison for 30 years, retiring in 1994. A Navy veteran, he served on the USS Missouri during the Korean War.
Mr. Gaetano was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Tracey) Gaetano, his brother, Frank Gaetano, and brother-in-law, Giovanni Maccio. He was survived by his devoted children, Dominick "Guy" Gaetano, Jr. and his wife Rose of NC and Maryann Fagan and her husband Terrence of PA; 3 cherished grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; his sisters and brother, Catherine Maccio of Manahawkin, Anthony and Sally Gaetano of Clark, Dorothy and Barry Grand of Toms River; sister-in-law, Diana Gaetano of NY; his aunt, Antoinette Kizima of Roselle Park; his very dear friend, Rose Bonando; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, NJ on Thursday, January 2, 2014, thence to St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia, where a Funeral Mass was offered. Interment followed in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Colonia Senior Citizens Club.
