Radia Camp our loving mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at 94 on February 24, 2014 at Legacy House in South Ogden. The fifth of seven children, she was born on September 2, 1919 in Mink Creek, Idaho to Ervin Hyrum and Laurain Peterson Larsen. Raised in nearby Glencoe, Radia loved horses as a youth.
She graduated from Preston High School and went on to work during WWII for the Caterpillar Company in Oakland, California and was the quintessential 'Rosie the Riveter.
It was there that she met the love of her life, Army Air Corps veteran Hubert Kenneth Camp, and after courting they were married on September 20, 1947. Their marriage was later sealed in the Jordan River LDS Temple on July 27, 1982. She was saddened at the loss of her husband in 2005 but they are together again.
The couple moved to San Leandro where they raised their family for the next 45 years. In addition to being an excellent homemaker Radia worked for Golden Grain/Ghirardelli until she retired at age 65. In later years she care for her mother-in-law and is remembered for her giving spirit.
Radia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Sunday School, Relief Society, and as a teacher in the Young Women program. She also served with Kenneth at the Ogden LDS Temple.
She loved gardening, kept an impeccable home, but most of all will be remembered as a tireless mother and devoted grandmother. She had a tremendous work ethic and was a wonderful cook. Her chocolate chip cookies were the best in the world.
Radia is survived by her daughter, Launa L. (Russell) Kennedy, St. George; son, Kevin (Barbara) Camp, South Ogden; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and by her sister, Joyce (Doug) Palmer, Ogden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Melroy, Massel, Ruby, Thelma, and Dennis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Birch Creek 4th Ward, 4955 Adams Ave. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
