John was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died 14 April 1891 in Manatee, Florida. His grave has not been found. The last census, this researcher has found him is Federal Census 1880 for Pine Level, Sarasota, and Manatee, Manatee County, Florida. They lived with Mary and John J. Helm ( age 20,c1860 IN), Hettie age 12 (c.1858 IN), and Manuel age 10 (c. 1870 IN). He was a Veteran of the Civil War with a pension, and a farmer. It is presumed that the Manuel listed might be Merrett M. Helm. Family history says that John arrived in Florida c1880. I am a great granddaughter of His Aunt Allie Helm Wasson. Ruth Brown Egan
