Reva Nell Dowden, 86, of Monrovia and formerly of Bloomfield, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2006.


She was born Jan. 13, 1920 in Linton to the late Edward Ockerman and Emma (Wade) Ockerman.


She married Otis H. Dowden on March 2, 1940.


She lived in Monrovia for 47 years and was formerly of Bloomfield for 25 years and Clermont for 13 years. She was a 1938 graduate of Bloomfield High School and attended Monrovia United Methodist Church. She and her husband purchased Monrovia General Store in 1959 and operated it as Dowden's Market for 17 years and she retired in 1976.


She is survived by her husband; a son, John E. (Diane) Dowden of Monrovia; one sister, Helen Stone of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Cinday Dowden, Joni Newlin and John E. Dowden II; six great-grandchildren Michael Dowden, Jeffrey and Avery Newlin, Amelia, Lydia and Stella Dowden.


She was preceded in death by a brother Max Ockerman and Blanche Chowen.


Funeral service will be at at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Jones Family Mortuary with Jack Elliot and Eric Kersey will officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Hall.
