He graduated from Central High School in 1952 and retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 1997 after 42 years of service. He was a member of Harwood Baptist Church for 50 years. Richard was an avid golfer, pool player, bowler, and loved playing poker on Sundays with his sons and grandchildren. He loved telling jokes and enjoyed his friends at SWIRCA and his breakfast buddies at McDonald's on St. Joseph Ave.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Adams; and daughter-in-law, Terry Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores (Norrick) Adams; sons, ; grandchildr; great-grandchildren,s; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Karl Crowe, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
