Obituary from Helena's Independent Record 03/19/2006:

Thelma Johnson passed away Tuesday morning Feb. 28, 2006, at Cascade Park Care Facility in Vancouver, Wash.

Thelma, the daughter of Emma "Tommy" Beagle, was born in Savage on Nov. 9, 1916. Thelma grew up on a farm across the Yellowstone River from Savage and took the ferry to school in Savage from which she graduated in 1935.

She married the love of her life, Hans Robert "Bob" Johnson, on Dec. 31, 1938, and was blessed with three sons, Dean, Dennis and Terry.

Thelma is preceded in death by her son, Terry, her husband, Bob and her mother, Emma.

After spending the war years in California, Thelma and Bob moved the family back to Sidney in 1952 where Thelma ran the "Beauty Shop" as owner operator. After the children graduated from high school Thelma and Bob moved to Shelby and began the H.R. Johnson Construction Company.

To be closer to their grandchildren, Thelma and Bob moved their company to Missoula in 1972. The years spent in Missoula were the happiest years of their lives, spending their days with their beloved grandchildren. In 1988, Thelma and Bob moved to Kalispell to be with their son, Dennis, and then moved to Helena in 1998.

In 2003, due to poor health, Thelma and Bob moved to Vancouver, Wash., to spend their remaining days with their son, Dean.

The two greatest enjoyments in Thelma's life were her husband and her grandchildren. She was fabulous cook and loved her flower gardens. Thelma and Bob were blessed with five beautiful great-grandchildren before leaving this Earth, a fact that they took great pride in. Thelma had a kind heart and a gentle soul; she is finally at peace and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Thelma is survived by her two sons, Dean and Dennis Johnson; her grandchildren, Penny Johnson, Kendal Johnson and Stephanie Johnson-Carson; and great-grandchildren, Catie, Lexi and Zachary Carson, Gabriella Johnson and Delaney Hall.

Private family services for Thelma have taken place. Condolences can be sent to 213 N.E. 129th Street, Vancouver, WA, 98685.

Additional Edit:

Thelma’s father was a Brooks NOT Beagle. Beagle was her mother’s second husband last name. This name change is also verified with her marriage certificate to Hans Johnson. Her father was James Lester Brooks. Thank you.
