James "Lester" Brooks was an avid "Sportsman," and loved to fish & Hunt. Probably his biggest love for him was "Trout" fishing in all the wonderful places of Montana. He taught some of his Grandsons to fish, and many of his Rifles & guns were passed down to Family members when he passed away.
James was devastated at the loss of his beloved dog & companion "POOCH,"... in which Pooch lived to be almost 17-years old.

RONAN - Graveside rites for James Lester Brooks, 79, 1324 5th St. West, Kalispell, were today in Mountain View Cemetery, Ronan.
Rev. John S. Lewis, pastor of the Kalispell Methodist Church, officiated. Shrider's Mortuary, Ronan, was in charge.
Mr. Brooks died Sunday in the Flathead Health Center after an extended illness.
He was born April 22, 1895, in Carter, Wis., and moved to eastern Montana in 1910. A farmer and mechanic for the bureau of reclamation, he moved to Lake County in 1925 and then to Kalispell.
In 1936 he married Helen J. Petersen who survives.
Also surving are a son, Robert W. of El Paso, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Catheryn Johnson of North Carolina; Mrs. Nadine M. Lee of Kalispell and Mrs. Virginia A. Bell of Preston, British Columbia; a brother, Eugene of Ronan; a sister, Mrs. Lela Miller of Ronan; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Two daughters preceded him in death.
