HELEN LUCILLLE (LINCOLN) WILLIS

Camanche, Clinton County, Iowa

HELEN LUCILLE (LINCOLN) WILLIS, 100, died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at the Senior Life Center in Des Moines, Iowa, where she had lived for the past few years.

Visitation will be at the Camanche Chapel of the Snell-Zornig Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at the Camanche Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Paul WILLIS. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche, Clinton County, Iowa.

HELEN LUCILLE (LINCOLN) WILLIS was born January 20, 1906, in Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mildred POWERS LINCOLN. She was educated in the Oelwein, Iowa area and received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, in 1926. She taught in Rowley, Greeley, and Camanche, Iowa, retiring from Camanche in 1970.

She married Joseph P. WILLIS on June 13, 1937, in Stanley, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1980.

She lived in Camanche, Iowa, until moving to a retirement home in Des Moines in 1996 to be near her daughter. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, Iowa.

She is survived by one son, Bob WILLIS and his wife Lani of Muscatine, Iowa; one daughter, Nancy WILLIS of Urbandale, Iowa; three grandchildren, Rick (Kelly) WILLIS and Jim (Nicole) WILLIS of Waverly, Iowa, and Barb (Dan) RANDALL of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five great-grandchildren – Tyler, Eric, Ryan, Luke, and Brooke WILLIS; one brother, Roy LINCOLN of Oelwein, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers – Harry, Carl, Abe, and Clyde LINCOLN, and three sisters – Lizzie JAMES, Ada ALSHOUSE, and Marie VERSLUIS.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Camanche Volunteer Fire Department.
