They farmed and milked cows along Highway 3 east of Oelwein for many years.
He was a member of the Farm Bureau, D.H.I.A. and Holstein Breeders Association. In 1975 he was given the County Dairy Appreciation Award. He was a leader in 4-H work in Scott Township for many years.
He died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
