A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Olson officiating. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at West Liberty Cemetery in rural Montezuma, Iowa.
Memorials in Pauline’s name may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Frank and Marie (Beason) Sutphin, Pauline was born June 1, 1921, in Montezuma. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High School, and she was united in marriage to Ronald Ackland in Missouri.
Pauline worked for 40 years at the Swift and Co. in Marshalltown, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, she worked at the Maytag Company in Newton. She enjoyed taking trips to South Dakota to get Black Hills Gold, and she loved spending time with her family and being outdoors. Pauline was a member of the Zoar Church in rural Newton.
She moved to Newton at a young age and lived in Newton for most of her life. The past 3½ years she had lived in Des Moines.
She is survived by a niece, Marilyn (Vernon) Sholley of Newton; three great-nieces, Sherry (Jim) Davenport of Des Moines, Linda Sholley of Des Moines and Shelly Sholley of Des Moines; four great-nephews, Clifford (Jeri) Sholley of Des Moines, Darrell Sholley Jr. of Des Moines, Timmy Sholley of Newton and Steve Sholley of Des Moines; and many great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Ackland; a sister, Mary Bunker; a brother, Rayford Sutphin; and a great-nephew, George Sholley.
