Ruth B. Catlin Johnson of Fort Collins, CO passed away on Aug. 7, 2017, at Collinwood Assisted Living Center, being just 3 months shy of her 101st birthday. Ruth was born Dec. 1, 1916 in Ipava, IL to Lewis F. Baldwin and Verna Barstow Baldwin. She graduated in 1934 from the Ipava High School. Ruth was married to Earl Bedford Catlin who preceded her in death. Ruth moved to Greeley in 1945 and was employed as Registrar in the Long's Peak Council, Boy Scouts of America for 20 years. She moved to Loveland 1967 and was a teacher's aide at Big Thompson Elementary School for 7 years. Ruth married Charles H. Johnson from Loveland in 1980. He preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by one son, daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren [survivor's names omitted]. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jack F. Baldwin and wife, Doris of California, Max M. Baldwin and wife, Clara of Greeley, and one sister, Mary Rose and her husband, Everett of Longmont, CO, as well as her daughter in law Jean Catlin.

Ruth was a remarkable woman. Fiercely independent, she was extraordinarily strong and resilient. Ruth was able to live independently until she was 99 years old. She always had a quick wit and kept those who spent time with her laughing and enjoying her company. Ruth was a prolific reader and writer, she loved knitting, crossword puzzles, birdwatching, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family. Ruth was a member of Timberline Church of Fort Collins.

Services will be held at Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home, Lincoln, Loveland with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
