Professional Football Player. For nine seasons (1975 to 1983), he played at the defensive back (cornerback) position in the National Football League with the Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints. Born Gregory Earl Stemrick, he attended Lincoln Heights High School in Cincinnati, where he excelled at basketball and baseball, prior to moving on to Colorado State University, where he played football. Signed as a non-drafted player by Houston, he totaled 117 career regular season games. Highly-durable, he played in 64 consecutive games over a four-season stretch (1978 to 1981). Stemrick distinguished himself, when he achieved Pro-Bowl honors in 1980. During the course of his career, he had issues with illegal substances which hindered his playing ability. He died from a heart attack.
