The 1850 census identifies him as Elijah and his son as Elisha and his daughter named her son Elijah after her father. Further proof may be found on General Land Office Records for purchases he made in 1837 and 1848. Possibly the two names were used as the same in that time or the enunciation was frequently unclear to officials with whom he came in contact recording the name.∼Family research has led me to listing this burial.
