Sharon Powell grew up in the area known as St Mary's Prairie in southeastern Hancock county, Illinois. She graduated from Plymouth Community High School in 1963 and from West Suburban School of Nursing in Oak Park, Illinois on August 25, 1966 as a registered nurse. On August 27, 1966 at St Mary's Baptist Church in St Mary, Illinois, Sharon Powell married Max Day who had graduated from high school at Macomb, Illinois. Max was a pastor in Baptist congregations in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Their home since 2006 was in Brainerd, Minnesota. Sharon died suddenly and unexpectedly while traveling with her husband, Max Day. Sharon and Max had five children, Lori, Tim, Holly, Amy, and Jeremy who survive with her sister, Shirley. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
