Beloved Lanett Woman Called to Reward Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Allen, 85, died at her home in Lanett, Thursday, March 22 and funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Sam Heath. Interment followed at the Lanett cemetery, Her husband G. W. Allen preceded her in death in 1928. They were among the first to move into this community before the mills were started.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the Baptist church and possessed a sweet personality as was evidenced by her large score of friends.
Ten children survive her, Mrs. C. A. Herring, Albany, Ga., W. L. Allen, Irondale, Ala., Mrs. G. W. Grier. Experiment, Ga., Marshall L. Allen, Opelika, Mrs. Dallas Burdett, Mrs. L. W. Rogers, Ridley Allen, Dan Allen, Will Allen, and Mrs. J. R. Hamby, all of Lanett. There are 42 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren who also survive her.
