Horace is the son of Washington and Maria (Dale) Berry of Windham, NH. He arrived in Windham with his parents in 1865 and lived near the Junction. He served as a collector for several years and was a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1876. >History of Windham in NH 1719-1883, p337.

Horace Berry and Harriet Garaphelia Hughes were married January 29, 1867.

Horace Berry, b. in Middleton, Mass., Sept. 7, 1833; resides in Windham; was a member of the constitutional convention in 1876; md., Jan. 29, 1867, Hattie G. Hughes, of Windham. Horace Berry was a delegate to the town of Windham at a constitutional convention on the first Wednesday of December in 1876. During this convention the annual election of State officers was changed from occurring annually to biennially. >History of Windham in NH, p106.

At the annual meetings of 1869 through 1871 Horace Berry was one of the auditors and from 1872 through 1879 he was a collector. Also in 1879 he is listed as Treasurer. >History of Windham in NH, pp218, 219.
