Linda Marie Bruce was born on August 28, 1961 in Pierre, SD, the oldest child of William and Pauline (Nemec) Bruce. Linda had seven siblings and they grew up on the family ranch northwest of Pierre. The ranching lifestyle, country school with lunches packed by her mother, and attending church were the focus of her childhood days. Her first three grades were accomplished at the Cheyenne rural school in Stanley County and third grade through eighth grade found her at the Deep Creek Rural School in Haakon County.
Linda attended and graduated from Ft. Pierre High School May of 1979. Post high school, she moved to Redfield and worked at the Developmental Center where her heart found great joy and achievement. Over time she worked in the Redfield School District, Dakota Sewing Factory, had an at-home day care and most recently Northwestern School as a dietary assistant. These jobs gave her lasting friendships that she greatly cherished.
She met and married her best friend, companion and soulmate, Robert Lutter. On June 24, 1983 they were married in Redfield, SD. They made their home on the family farm near Ashton, SD where they raised their 5 children, Alexia, Alisha, Adrianna, Jesse and Joseph.
Some of her favorite hobbies included sewing, scrapbooking, taking pictures, hunting, target shooting and spending time with her children and five grandchildren. She looked forward to the two weeks each summer when her grandkids came to visit.
One of the most important things in Linda's life was her relationship with God. She shared His love with everyone that she met. Linda's love for God was displayed in the way that she loved others and had a heart of hospitality. She was always willing to lend a listening ear, shoulder to cry on or a word of encouragement. Linda was a member of Aberdeen First Assembly of God Church. She was active in children's ministry, Women's devotional, VBS and various other capacities throughout the church.
Grateful for having shared Linda's life are her husband of 33 years, Bob Lutter, Ashton, SD; children: Alexia (Nathan) Mills, Bellevue, NE, Alisha (Erik) Nixon, Omaha, NE, Adrianna Lutter, Jesse Lutter, and Joseph Lutter, Ashton; grandchildren: Jacob Mills, Samantha Mills, August Mills, Gabriel Mills, and Brooklyn Hohn; parents: William and Pauline Bruce; sisters and brothers: Cathy (Paul) Rieker, Lexington, NE, Marcia (Doyle) Simon, Eagle Butte, SD, David (Robin) Bruce, Box Elder, SD, Andy (Carla) Bruce, Pierre, SD, Jim (Sheri) Bruce, Ramona, SD, Victoria (Cody) Koerner, Mitchell, SD, and Vince (Katie) Bruce, Hayes, SD.
Preceding her in death are her grandparents: Faye and Elizabeth Bruce, Edward and Elizabeth Nemec; bother-in-law, Ralph (Jeanette) Lutter; and nephew, Heath Simon.
