Alberta "Bert" A. Propst Widel, 86, passed away 7:20 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born February 23, 1928 in Marble Hill, MO, she was the daughter of Milford R. and Sadie (Shanks) Abernathy.

She worked in production for the Olin Corpration for 20 years, then worked in the Chemical Division of Propelex in St. Louis before retiring.

She married James C. Propst in Lutesville, MO. He died October 2, 1963. She then married Theodorre "Ted" Widel who died October 2, 2007.

Surviving are a son, James "Mike" (Billie) P. of Godfrey; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ken K. of Moline; and nephews.

Preceding in death were her parents; and sister, Annabelle Kessinger.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

Burial will folow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
