Turley Levi Burgess, 87, died al his residence, 1004 S. 15th, at 5:45 p. m. Sunday. He had been seriously ill six months.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Jerdan funeral home. Burial win be In Humboldt Township cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 pm. Tuesday.
Mr. Burgess had lived In Mattoon since his retirement from farming In 1944. He was born May 4, 1874, near Scottsburg, Ind., a son of Thomas Hardy Burgess and Eliza Ann Richie Burgess. He married Edith Ana Hubbartt in Shelbyville Sept. 29, 1909. She survives. Besides his widow, he leaves five sons, Rowe, Doty, Wash.; Rex, Phoenix, Ariz.; Ted, Chicago; Tom, Vancouver, Wash, and Robert, Mattoon; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Aiken and Mrs. Glen Baker, Mattoon, Miss Madge Burgess, Chicago, and Mrs. Vearl Gordy, Mt. Prospect; a sister, Mrs. Hettie Estes, Urbana, I5 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
