Rhoda was the dau of William & Lucinda (Bell) Souther of Wilkes County, North Carolina. They moved to MO in 1853 living near Ethel in Macon County. Rhoda married Obadiah S Brown on the 6th of June 1867. They united with Pleasant Grove church in 1876 and were faithful members. To this marriage, four children were born: Elbert, James Arthur, Media Lane, & Harold Tracy. Rhoda, after her husband's death, made her home with her daughter, Media Lane, of rural St. Catharine, MO. Besides her children and friends, she leaves 2 sisters, Mrs Adeline Bitner of Richfield, Kansas, Mrs. Matilda Ward of Macon county and 2 brothers Mark Souther and Finley Souther of Macon county and grandchildren. The funeral was under the direction of Hunter & Rawlins. Rev H.L. Noyes conducted the funeral.
