Mrs. Ellen M. Atkinson Shields, wife of Henry M. Shields and life-long resident of Winnebago county died Tuesday noon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John McLeish, 851 Haskell Ave.,.... She was born in Burritt township June 23, 1848 and was married March 17, 1868. Besides the husband and daughter mentioned, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Kissick, Pecatonica, and Mrs. Katherine Gordon, Harlem, and a brother John M. Atkinson, 921 North avenue.

Originally buried in North Burritt Cemetery; removed to Greenwood Cemetery 1933.
