L. Margaret McClure, 93, of Vincennes passed away Sunday morning, June 28, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital after a very brief illness.

She was born June 26, 1916, in Sullivan County, the daughter of the late Marvin L. and Delcie Jane (Mounts) Bishop, and lived in the Vincennes area for most of her life. She married Guy V. McClure Jr. on March 27, 1937, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1970.

Margaret was a member of the First Christian Church and was a volunteer for the Red Cross. She had worked for the Klein and Ewing printing companies, Metropolitan Insurance, Knox County Clerk's office, and just 10 years ago retired from the Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by her son, Larry R. (wife Selma) McClure of Vincennes; a grandson, Patrick (wife Susie) McClure; granddaughter, Libby (husband Cary) Pond; six great-grandchildren, Benjamin Pond, Kate Pond, Ann Pond, Ashley McClure, Shannon McClure and Thomas McClure; two brothers, Jim Bishop of Pie Town, N.M., and Jerry Bishop of North Salem; a sister, Millie Hanna of Terre Haute; and a sister-in-law, Barbara McClure of Freelandville.

Five sisters, Frieda Wasmer, Lois Finley, Helen Moog, Beulah Page and Doris Minnen; and one brother, Dale Bishop, preceded Margaret in death.

A private funeral service for Margaret will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, in Gardner Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main St., with the Rev. Rick Grant officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
