Mr. Charles J. "C.J." Burney of Hanceville Alabama passed away on July 20, 2016 at UAB Hospital at the age of 90. He was born on September 3, 1925 in Leoma Tn. to Charlie B. and Nora Littrell Burney.

He was a veteran of The United States Marine Corp. He worked at the Veterans Hospital for 28 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wife: Agnes Johnston Burney, Son: Gary Alfred "Frog" Burney, Sisters: Burley (Glenn) McDowell, Odell (Milford) Pannell, Lilah (Mick) Andrews, Jean (Bobby) O'Rear, Brothers: Hubert (Mildred) Burney, Noah Leonard (Ruth) Burney, Leon (Kitty) Burney, Ossie (Ethel Lee) Burney, Clifford (Virginia) Burney,.

Survivors are: Daughters: Sharon (Doyle) Partain, Nancy (Sam) Tyree, Susie (Tom) Barfoot, adopted daughter: Linda Patrick, Sisters: Loxcil (Gerald) Tuck, Nell (Bob) sellers, Jayne (James) Henry, Brother: Joe Burney, Grandchildren: Jennifer Brown, Nicholas Tyree, Ashley Baker, Laura Brelsford, Brett Partain, Adam Barfoot, Great Grandchildren: Phillip John Brown, Jaxon White, Samantha Tyree, Sisters-In-Law: Alice Medlock, Hilda Johnston, Brother-In-Law: James (Diane) Johnston.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Cullman First Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating. Mr. Burney will lie in state for one hour at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Moss Funeral Home.
