Doreen Kay (Harmon) Helin, age 68, of Austin, died Wednesday, October 16 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Doreen was born January 31, 1945 in Iowa City, Iowa. She grew up in Buffalo Center, Iowa. On May 27, 1962 she was united in marriage to Gerald Helin. Doreen worked at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home and retired in 1993.

She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family, including: Precia, Oreo, and Baloo.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Helin; children, Robert Helin, Robyn Arneson (Jeff Randall), Rebecca (Jay) Burke, Ryan Helin (Cathy Hemann-Winsky); grandchildren, Danielle and Aaron Deyo, Nicholas (Mindy), Mitchell, Michael, Nathan Williamson, Dustin and Vannessa Winsky; great grandchildren, Kadince, Aubree, Mea; brothers, Darrell Harmon, Dave Iverson, Duaine Harmon, Greg Tarr, Gregory Harmon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Myrtle Harmon; her birth parents, Pauline Tarr and Emmett Harmon; her brothers, Don Harmon, Dean Harmon, Dick Harmon.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father John Traufler officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service.
