Coushatta, LA – A funeral service celebrating the life of Barbara Jane Lester, 86, will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home chapel with Bro. James Nailes and Bro. Olan McLaren officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in the Hickory Grove community in Coushatta, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the funeral home. Due to current policy, friends will be limited to small groups during visitation, and those waiting to pay their respects are asked to wait in their vehicles until directed by funeral staff.
Mrs. Lester was born October 31, 1933 in Bienville Parish, LA to George W. and Emma Grace Upshaw. She passed away June 2, 2020 in Coushatta.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Otto Lester; sisters, Lois Boddie, Louise Strain, and Lorene Caskey; brothers, Earl Upshaw, Travis Upshaw, T. J. Upshaw, Cortez Upshaw, and Ruby Joe Upshaw.
Left to cherish Mrs. Lester's memory are her sons, Sammy L. Giddings and wife, Sherry, Charles W. Giddings and wife, Diane, and John R. Giddings and wife, Ashley; daughters, Linda G. Berry and husband, Randy, Barbara Lynette Orr and husband, Mike, and Angela "Sissy" Williams and husband, Kyle; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mrs. Lester as pallbearers will be Michael Giddings, Lucas Huckaby, Ben Allison, Eric Thompson, II, Kyle Williams, and Skyler Giddings. Honorary pallbearers are Jeffrey Orr and Brody Allison.
