Auto Accident Claims Life Of Mrs. G. W. Upshaw

Mrs. Grace Durrett Upshaw, age 59, wife of G. W. Upshaw of Bienville, was killed instantly in an automobile accident near Methvin, last Saturday, when the car in which she was riding went into a roadside ditch and turned over. Her neck was broken.

Other occupants of the car were her husband, who was driving, and two small children. Mr. Upshaw escaped injury but one of the children was slightly hurt. The Upshaw family was en route from Bienville to visit relatives at Martin when the accident occurred.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Oak Grove church, near Arcadia, for Mrs. Upshaw.

Survivors include her husband, G. W. Upshaw, and nine children; Mrs. Frank Candler of Arcadia; Mrs. Loffie Caskey of Hodge, Miss Louise Upshaw, Minden, Ruby Jo Upshaw and Ray Upshaw of Coushatta; Travis Upshaw, now in England; Cortez, T. J. and Barbara Jane, all of Bienville; her mother, Mrs. Inda Durrett of Bienville, four sisters, Mrs. M. J. Anderson, Quitman, Mrs. O. C. Sims, Ruston, Mrs. W. B. McCoy, Baton Rouge, Mrs. T. W. Trussell, Minden; and three brothers, R. W. Durrett, T. G. Durrett and J. P. Durrett, all of Bienville.

Mrs. Durrett was a sister of Mrs. Turner W. Trussell formerly of Arcadia.
