BLACKSHEAR ‹ James David Suggs, 47, of Blackshear, died Thursday afternoon at his residence following an extended illness.

He was a native of Ware County and had lived most of his life there until moving to Pierce County in 1993.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Quentin Suggs, and a sister, Betty Thornton.

He was a truck driver for the City of Waycross with 29 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Suggs; a daughter, Kaylee Buckins; a son, Kyle Suggs, all of Blackshear; his mother Lorene Suggs, of Lake Park; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Marlene Sullivan, of Blackshear; three sisters, Erma Hightower (husband Carl), of Griffin, Nora Hightower (husband Clinton), of Lake Park, Missy Booth, of Waycross; three brothers, Tommy Suggs (wife Margaret), of Fayetteville, Stanley Suggs, of Thomaston, and Johnny Suggs, of Griffin; two special nephews, Shannon Suggs (wife Michelle), of Dixie Union, and Charles Bunn (wife Stacy) of Concord; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Laura Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 until at the funeral home. The family has requested the employees of the City of Waycross serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to be at the chapel by 1:45 p.m. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.smithfuneralhome.us.
