Francis Joseph Antony was born May 28, 1930, to Peter and Esther (Streff) Antony in Yellow Medicine County. He was baptized and received First Communion at St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo. He received his elementary and Jr. High education at St. Leo Parochial School and completed his high school education at Clarkfield High School where he graduated salutatorian of his class.

Francis farmed with his dad until Jan. 20, 1952, when he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He spent one year in Korea in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in October 1953. Francis then returned to farming.

On Oct. 29, 1957, Francis married Marie Stienessen in a double wedding with Marie's twin sister, Marion and Germain Hoffmann at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Minneota. In 1963, Francis and his wife moved to their home farm and raised 8 children together. Francis was an active member of the St. Leo Catholic Church serving as lector, eucharistic minister, and president and secretary of the St. Leo Men's Club. Francis retired from farming in 1992, but continued to work around the farm selling feed, seed corn, and soybeans, helping area farmers with tillage, seasonal agronomy work, as well as other odd jobs to keep him busy and social. Some of his hobbies included playing cards, going to the casino, restoring old tractors, camping, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
