Nevin Ray Selke, 73, a Connersville native, dued July 15, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after becoming ill at home.

Nevin was a 1960 graduate of Connersville High School and studied at Jones College and Troy State in Jacksonville, Florida. He also studied for a bachelors degree in business maintenance management.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran where he served for 23 yrs. as an aircraft engine mechanic. He was a civil employee for 22 yrs. A member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church and had attended Higher Praise Worship Center. Nevin was the founder of Krusader's 4 Kids and a Shriner member since 1982.

He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fleet Reserve Association, Loyal Order of the Moose, United Methodist Men and was a Kentucky Colonel. He held dual memberships in the Free and Accepted Masons in Stafford Caldwell Lodge in Florida and Warren Lodge of Connersville. He served as ambassador to the Morocco Temple in Florida and sang in the Community Choir.

He loved decorating and all things Christmas.

Nevin is survived by his wife, Sue Lunsford Selke, his children and their spouses, step-sons and spouses, 6 Grandchildren and a Great Grandson; his brother Nolen Selke and his wife; his sister-in-law Kathy Selke.

Nevin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane Miller Selke; his brother Narvel Selke.

Sevices: July 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Showalter, Blackwell, Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Masonic services will be 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening,July 20, 2016. Memorial contributions may be given to Krusaders 4 Kids through the funeral home.

Graveside service for Nevin Ray Selke, who passed away on July 15, 2016, will be conducted at 11a.m. on Aug. 4, 2016 at Dale Cemetery, Connersville, Fayette, Indiana. Military graveside honors will be presented by the Fayette County Veterans Council.
