Obituary - Mrs. Frances Dolecheck.
Frances Jezek was born in Klasterec, Czechoslovakia, May 17, 1853, and departed this life at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, July 10, 1932, at the age of seventy-nine years, one month and 23 days.
Frances and her two brothers, Anton and Frank, were the only children of Anton and Petronila Jezek.
In the summer of 1866 she with her father, mother, two brothers and friends, Joseph Kafka and Vit Dolecheck's, came to Ringgold county from their home in Klasterec, Czechoslovakia, taking six weeks on a sail ship to make the voyage across the ocean, and spent their first winter with her father's brother, Wencel Jezek (Yashack), on the farm now owned by Geo. Yashack in Washington township, Wincel Jezek having come to Washington township from Czechoslovakia ten years previous.
On November 22, 1873, Frances was united in marriage to Peter Dolecheck. To this union four children were born, two daughters, Anna, now Mrs. John Dolecheck of Diagonal, and Silva M. Dolecheck of Mount Ayr; and two sons, David D. Dolecheck and Chas. F. Dolecheck of Diagonal, Iowa. Her father, mother, husband, one brother, Anton, and two grandchildren have preceded her in death.
From the time of her marriage until death she lived with her family on the old Peter Dolecheck homestead where her son Chas. F. and her grandson, Leo, now live.
She was indeed a true wife and a devoted mother, always cheerful, patient, courageous, and spent her entire life in kindly, efficient and untiring ministration to her family, neighbors, friends, and to any one in need whether she was personally acquainted with them or not.
She and her husband were charter members of the Bohemian church which is located on a part of the Peter Dolecheck homestead, and were greatly interested in maintaining the church and promoting those things which raise the standard of social, educational, moral and spirtual life to a higher and better level. She was truly a pioneer woman of Ringgold county and knew the hardships and privations of the early day, but always met those hardships and difficulties with a happy and pleasant disposition. She took great delight in her later years in relating her early day experiences, and the joy she received from the pleasant and happy community gatherings which took place in those early days of pioneer life.
She leaves to mourn her loss four children, one brother, eight grandchildren, besides a great number of more distant relatives and friends.
Truly the great central sun of the Peter Dolecheck household has gone down, however, we have unbounded faith in the language of the scriptures, "I go to prepare a place for you," that, in the golden summer of another life, children, mother and father will gather again in a sweet reunion, where partings are unknown.
Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Chas. F. Dolecheck, Tuesday afternoon, July 12, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. E. Matheny. Burial was in the Bohemian cemetery.
