Mr. Dyke was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Lee's Summit, the son of Otis L. and Fannie L. (Clark) Dyke, and grew up in the Lee's Summit area. He was a Navy veteran. He married Barbara J. Barnes on Sept. 2, 1950. He was a printer, beginning his career at the Lee's Summit Journal, later working for the Maryville (Mo.) Daily Forum and Townsend Communications, retiring from The Examiner. He had served as a volunteer firefighter for the Lee's Summit Fire Department. He enjoyed playing softball, league bowling and fishing. He also coached youth athletics.
