Pernell Carey died of old age and general debility, at 4 o'clock A.M. Tuesday, April 3d, 1883. Mr. Carey was born September 15th 1811, in Sussex county, Delaware. He was married to Mary Lindle, on the 8th of May, 1831, who survives him. He became a resident of this place in 1854, and has always been regarded a most worthy citizen, and a Christian gentleman. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. D. Parr, at the M. E. Church, of which the deceased was a faithful member at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday. His remains are now at rest in Riverside cemetery.
