Mrs. Lula W. Vanhorn, sixty-four, of Hildebran, died in a Valdese hospital at nine o'clock this morning following an illness of three days.

The deceased was born in Catawba County April 9, 1886, a daughter of the late Monroe and Alice Cline. She was twice married. Her first husband, Olin C. Whitener, died in 1921 and her second, Dolphus Vanhorn, died in 1939.

Four daughters surviving by her first marriage are Mrs. Harley Cook and Miss Murriel Whitener of Hildebran, Mrs. Conrad Brittain of Granite Falls, Route 2, and Mrs. E.S. Houser of Key West, Fla. One daughter, Miss Rebecca Vanhorn of Pensacola, Fla, survives by her second husband.

Two sons surviving by her first marriage are Howard Whitener of Lorain, Ohio, and Corporal Edward Whitener of the U.S. Army. Two sons also survive by her second marriage, David and A.D. Vanhorn of Hildebran.

There are seventeen living grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete this afternoon, according to attaches of Hickory Funeral Home.
