Mrs 'Axie' Eads' father, Lewis William Bailey, removed from North Carolina to Indiana and located on a farm. He married Susan Trullinor, and six children were born to them: Levi, Delilah, Priscilla , Axa, Ruth and Jarrett. They removed from Indiana to Illinois and thence to southern Missouri, and finally to Monroe County, Iowa. Mr Bailey was a member of the "Campbellite" Church. He was a prosperous farmer and was much respected in the community where he lived.

Guardianship papers from Oregon State archives on Charles and Rosa Bailey granted, 5 Jan 1869, for Joshua Cockelreas, says that the children's father, William Jarret Bailey, (no mother listed) was dead in Monroe County, Iowa. No 'marriage' between Bailey and Miss McClellan has been found; but a marriage in Monore Co., IA between Wm. J. Bailey and Delilah Webb on July 3 , 1862, which is the right time-line as far as Rosa and Charles McClellan Bailey births....

Charles McClellan Bailey and his sister Rosa were living with their aunt Delila Bailey Cockel rease. Close to where Gilbert John and Catherine 'Ticcle' Bailey Epperson lived in 'Sandy' , Oregon.
