Elizabeth was born on the 29 January 1835 in Highland Co., Ohio to Abner and Martha (Perkins) Ratcliff. She moved as a child with her family to Indiana and they settled in Delaware County. On the 5 October 1856 she married Andrew M. Dragoo. They had four sons; Harvey, Frank A., Anderson and Daniel. The three oldest grew to adulthood and Daniel died at the age of four. Andrew M. Dragoo died 13 August 1862 and she found herself rearing three young boys alone. On the 11th of February 1866 she married William Wesley Hensley. They had five sons: George, Jonas, David, William and Charles. Her husband, William, hung himself in the barn 1 March 1898. On 9 March 1915, while visiting the home of a friend, Mrs. Cole, in Yorktown, she suddenly passed away. She was sitting in a chair talking when she suddenly fell forward. Before medical help could be given she was dead. Although in ill health for some time she had been feeling well just previous to her death and her sudden end came as a shock to her friends. Her funeral was at Hoffher Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Brown in charge. Interment was in Hawk Cemetery.
