Hurley Dean "Sparky" Schillie, 72, of Wever, died at Great River Medical Center.

Born in Leonard, Mo., he was the son of Adam Benhart and Myra Frances Barker Schillie. On Oct. 9, 1955, he married Lula Ann Harrison in LaPlata, Mo.

He worked as a baker for Benner Tea Co. from 1957 to 1965. He then worked for J.I. Case fleet as a trucker, until retiring in 1996. He was of the Christian faith. He was a former member of the Eagles Club and Teamsters Local 43. He enjoyed outdoor activities, watching wildlife and hummingbirds, tinkering with old tractors and watching TV westerns.

Survivors include his wife of Wever; three sons, Allen Schillie of Danville, Robert Schillie of Waverly and Leslie Schillie of Wever; one daughter, Angie McCannon of Danville; 10 grandchildren; two step–grandchildren; three step–great–grandchildren; and four sisters, his twin, Shirley Burke of Lake Zurich, Ill., Betty Karaff of Kansas City, Mo., Mary Plumlee of LaPlata, and Alma Groves of Macon, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters, two brothers and one infant son.

The funeral service was held at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Buck officiating.
