Motion Picture Director, Author. Best remembered for directing the classic picture "The Wicker Man" (1973). Hardy collaborated with playwright Anthony Shaffer on a novel adaptation of the film in 1978. Born Robin St. Clair Rimington Hardy, his career as a director began in Canada and the United States during the 1960s, prior to returning to London, where he directed television commercials. During this period, Hardy joined forces with Anthony Shaffer and formed a television production company and the later result would be the project "The Wicker Man", which starred Christopher Lee. Lee was quoted as saying that this was his finest work. Hardy went on to pen the screenplay for and direct the thriller "The Fantasist" (1986) and co-write the screenplay for the film "The Forbidden Sun" (1989). His 2006 novel "Cowboys for Christ" was made into a 2011 motion picture adaptation of which he also directed and wrote the screenplay.
