BENJAMIN TEMPLETON DEAD. Benjamin Templeton, a man well known in this county, where he had lived for a quarter of a century, died at the home of J. H. Allender, a son-in-law, at Salina, on the 27th ult. Deceased was born in Washington County, Penn., and came to Iowa about 30 years ago. He settled near Glasgow, where he resided until about six years ago and reared a family. At that time he removed to Eddyville, returned to this county a few weeks previous to his death. He was in the 80th year of his age. His death resulted from asthma and heart disease. -- The Fairfield Ledger, Sept. 10, 1884, Page 3, col. 5
The outskirts of Salina have been visited again by the ruthless hand of death, and has taken away the father of Mrs. Jacob Allender, Benjamin Templeton. His age was about 78 years. He was a man that was well known and well respected and loved by all who knew him. His remains were taken to Eddyville, Iowa, and buried. Mr. Templeton has been living with his son-in-law during the past summer, and had enjoyed very good health until within a few weeks before his death. As it was with Father Templeton so will it be with us all, - we know not the day or the hour when death will come. -- Fairfield Tribune, Sept. 11, 1884, Page 3, col. 5.
Burial: August 29, 1884.
