her parents were Wade Alton and Charlie Mae Parker Yates.

she was preceded by her brothers Homer Yates and Charles Neal Yates.

she was an ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church International that liked to focus her attention to the mission field and also mentoring young families and new Christians. Dorothy greatly believed in the power of prayer and she did just that on behalf of her family, church or those in need. she and her husband were instrumental in the planting and building of a new church in Argentina and would often employ people around the house just for the opportunity to witness to them. she was affectionately known as “Ms. Dorothy” to the many people who often heard her on the local Swap Shop and she also liked to sew and make crafts. Dorothy enjoyed playing card games with her family and friends. according to her family, her life revolved around reading God’s Word, visiting and working alongside her church family and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
