Son of Rev. Andrew Jamieson, an Anglican missionary to the Indians at Walpole Island, Ontario. Robert was educated at McGill University, Montreal bet. 1863-1864 and was a medical Doctor at the Univ of Pennsylvania in 1866. After moving to Detroit in 1870, where he practiced general medicine. He was also a professor of clinical medicine at the Detroit College of Medicine, a member of the Detroit Medical Library Association, serving as its president in 1886. He also served on the staff of Harper, St. Mary's and St. Luke's Hospitals; he was City Physician from 1873 to 1875 and State Medical Director for the A.O.U.W for sixteen years. He last lived at 147 Park St., along with his wife Emma Louisa (Thompson) Jamieson.
